Having recently spent 3 weeks on the Isle of Mull, gently touring around (solo) the island, 25-30mph on the single track roads was a very pleasurable and stress free way of taking in the scenary and wildlife.

But to my point, having hitched up my van (Bailey  Pageant Monarch 7) to drive to the ferry I found that the car would not pull over 2200 revs, 30mph being a real struggle. Arriving in Oban, I managed to get to site and unhook the van. The next day I went
in search of the local Toyota dealer only to be told the nearest was Inverness 100miles or Glasgow120miles. So I engaged a local garage to try and effect a solution. He connected a diaognistic computer where nothing adverse showed up indeed I had no warning
light anyway. He suggested the EGR valve may be clogged resulting from 3-400 miles on Mull with low grade diesel proberbly mixed with bio. I got the impression he was not interested in investigating any further, and £30 later suggested some high grade fuel
from the Esso garage up the road, drive it arround and see if it clears.

Well it did a little, sufficient to give me confidence to drive to Glasgow and the Toyota agent. On route to south to Glasgow the car did improved a lot and I decided to continue home to Devon.

My question to you guys out there, has anyone else experienced such a problem. Having researched the internet I would think it is possible the EGR valve is at fault. The car still coughs and splutters at 3500 revs under load, ie pulling the van or solo going
a steep hill. ANY IDEAS thanks
