Scottish Midges!

Can't believe there are no posts about midges ! Anyway, first time caravanning, in the North West of Scotland next week, and I'm wondering what others have found best for keeping away the dreaded midge ?  We use Avon Skin-so-Soft at home, but will that be
effective against this particular breed ?!  Also, any thoughts on citronella candles when sitting outside of an evening ?
