Fire buckets

Since rallying (back in the 70's with my parents) never had a fire bucket, nor seen many on rallies.
But recently there has been a reminder about having them (camping club rally). When asking about one in the caravan shop, they're response was that I was the second person to ask in a week and not been asked for one in decades.
Are they the necessity? If so where do we get one from that's not £15 plus?
