Motor Mover repair advice

Can anyone give me some help / advice please? Our motor mover failed to engage with the tyre on one side when we went to use it yesterday. I can hear the electrics trying to shift it, and the 'gripping wheel' that would normally be in contact with the tyre
is rotating when you try to use the remote, so I don't think its an electrical problem. Could I use some WD40 on the mechanism or is this a big no-no? We bought our caravan second hand earlier this year with the mover already fitted & I don't have any handbook/instructions
to go with it. Any advice please to try and avoid a garage repair bill if it's possible to attempt to rectify the problem ourselves
