Motorhome windout awnings on non-awning pitch

I have a recollection of reading a post some time back by a Club staff member on a thread saying that it is OK for motorhomes to use a windout awning on a non-awning pitch. Is this correct, and if so can anyone provide a link?  I have looked, but the search tool couldn't find it if it exists.

We have been for short stays on two club sites recently; on one the warden said it was allowed, on the other the warden asked us not to, saying it caused problems with other people seeing the windout awning, and complaining about not being allowed to use their regular (ie porch or full) awning.

Not sure if this should be posted here, or on the UK Sites section - no doubt it will be moved if this is the wrong place.
