New Awning Leaks - to be expected ?

Hi All,

we have just had to return a brand new lightweight porch awning after it leaked through the rail seams.

The place we bought it from said that this was 'normal' in new awnings as the holes from the stitching 'need to expand before they become waterproof', and they would 'seal' it for me.

Personally I think this is bull, so asked for my money back.

Anyone else heard this ?
