Sargent EC200 battery charger

If anyone has one of these in a motorhome can they confirm it is not possible to charge both the leisure battery and the engine battery at the same time? It also appears that to charge either, you not only have to have the EC200 switched on, you also have
to have the vans control pannel switched on.
