Hi, 1995 boxer - I've fixed a few small issues on the old camper i bought in June but i cannot fathom how to stop water getting on the battery and tray. The battery is very close to the drivers side wing and i think that each downpour is shortening out the battery. I've put a new battery in to ensure it wasn't down to an old battery. Anyone else had similar issues- if so how resolved? Can't gamble withthis fault when out on me hols! Cheers

I have a 99 with the same problem. I cut up a cheap bucket to give me a curved shield which I then fixed above the battery. I also have an outside windscreen cover that is big enough to overlap the top of the bonnet so no water gets in when parked up.

This is a well known problem.    The water is coming from the windscreen scuttle. The way we overcame it when we had a boxer was as follows

Using windscreen washer tube and fittings, make a drain in the scuttle and feed the tub down to the battery tray.  Insert a T piece in the tube an attach to another tube fitted in the battery tray base and feed down.

Please ensure the bottom of the tube is well clear of the front cross member as it would cause this to corrode.

You will find more details of this along with some other options by doing a search on the AutoSleepers Owners Forum

A battery cover was fitted to later models but it didnt stop water in the tray, just water on the battery

Many Fiat (etc) base vehicles suffer the same problem in varying degrees.

Simply cover the battery and tray as the manufacturers do in later versions.

Yep remember that problem, roli`s idea sounds close to the mark.

It turned out that the new battery I bought was useless. Replaced with exide battery which works fine.
