Getting stuck in mud

Hi All. 

Has anyone had experience with traction tracks or similar to help the problem of getting out of mud if stuck. We like grass pitches and whilst on site last year at Rosedale Abbey site we got stuck on the wet grass. Fortunately a kind fellow caravaner helped
tow us out. I have seen these very simple traction tracks for sale and wonder if that do actually work. As ever your help would be most appreciated.
