Awning advice - seasonal pitch
Apologies for what i'm sure is a simple question.......
New to Caravanning and last year we placed our new to us Caravan on a seasonal pitch, put up an awning and everything was great. That was untill it rained and the floor (hardstanding) flooded in one area.
I tried to make adjustments to the floor which corrected most of the flooding but not acceptable to my partner.
having looked at the site there where a number of plots that had pallets to solve such issues.
I approached one near and they advised me of what to do for the following year which was great.
Then we had strong winds, thunder & lightening which but two holes in my awning and bent a pole, got them all repaired and build what i call a decking for this season.
Put up the awning screwed poles into the make shift pold holders on the decking and everything was fab.
Then........
70mph winds came, snapped a roof pole in half and then the other poles failed - awning completely ruined.
Yes i know get to the point you are saying..........
So i have ordered a new awning, but to try and keep the awrning as perfect as possiby i have a few questions..........
at the moment the pallets are raised of the ground meaning that the awning will meet the pallets on a shorter distance.
In order to keep the height of the walls and the correct dip on the roof should i raise the caravan?
I thought this should be done and looking at placing paving slabs underneath to raise?
Is this wise to do and if so is there a limit that i should rise it by?
sorry for the stupid question, and the long post just to get to a quick question at the end.
