Tyre Pressures
hi I'm new to caravaning and have just bought a Compass Kensington 450/4 was wondering if anybody new the correct tyre pressures for it as I am planning to take it out in early April and would like to check the tyre pressures before we hit the road

mozza23. The pressures depend on the type of tyres and caravan weight. I might be able to give you an accurate answer but I need the following info. 1. The tyre size and load rating. This will look similar to 195 70R 14 96N. You will find it on the tyre
wall. Next your caravans MTPLM which I think would be roughly 1230 Kg. If you can give me this info I will search my pressure charts.0 -
Here is an example of how to calculate the correct pressure
A = Maximum loaded weight of caravan (there should be a plate on the 'van stating this figure).(Say 1300kg)
B = Maximum tyre pressure (stamped on tyre carcass - Say 73psi)
C= Maximum load of tyre (stamped on tyre carcass - Say 900kgs)
D = Number of wheels. (Say 2)
Multiply A - by B divided by C - then divide the result by D = this is the approximate tyre pressure.
i.e. :- 1311 x 73/900 = 106.3 divide this by number of wheels (2) = 53.2psi.
The figures above are based on my caravan, the handbook of which states tyre pressures are 54psi.

it is unusual (though not impossible) for a calculation method to be based on a mixture of imperial (PSI) and metric (KGS) units of measurement. As far as I can understand it the calculation works sometimes. Origin?
