DCI Banks

Did anyone else watch the first of the new series last night. A bit disappointing I thought. I love Peter Robinson's books which have complex characters and well constructed plots. But the TV programmes seem very bitty and jump around all over the place.
Also allthough I think Stephen Tompkinson is a fne actor, I'm not convinced he matches up to the character of Banks in the books. Anyone else got a view?
