spotting damp!

Hi all, i am looking fr a cheap 4 berth lightweight caravan for my daughter. I really only want to spend £2000 max. Her mptlm is 1250kg. What i am worried about is damp. I do not have a damp meter and wondered, can you see the damp? I do know about floor
feeling spongy. Do dealers check with a meter?
