Petrol Station Etiquette

Sorry if this is a dumb question; but being a newbie....

When in 'tow-mode' and you need to fill-up, what is the correct protocol:

1. Use the lorry area.

2. Take-up the space in the normal car area.

3. Unhitch prior to filling-up.

4. Depends on the petrol station (motorway vs. local will differ).
