Being a total weber convert and disciple for some years now, I often, when in the area, nip into the local Weber dealership at Birstall Garden Centre, Near Leicester to see if Weber has introduced and any new items to their range. Some months ago I noticed that they had introduced a pizza oven which simply fits on top of the 57cm kettle BBQ. Theay had also introduced a new griddle plate where the centre part lifts out and one can introduce into the hole a wok, searing iron, a poultry roaster or a pizza stone. It was this that I treated myself to last week rather than buy the dedicated pizza oven which, although very nice is rather pricey.

So, today, I set about to prepare and cook my first pizzas ever! When I say prepare, I mean I even made the sauce for the base, and prepared all the toppings that I wanted the first being a sausage and bacon with peppers, black olives and wild  rocket, the second being BBQed smoked chicken in tangy sauce, with mozerella cheese, black olives and more cheese!  I set the BBQ up with the charcoal and heated the stone. As instructed and went to town and cooked them until crisp on the bottom, the edges cooked to perfection and the toppings melted together to form a mouth watering sight. To say they were delicious is to understate by some margin. I have my daughter down from Scotland with 5 of my grand kids and she is a noteable cook herself. Praise was heaped on praise but the real hero of the hour is Weber who continue  to impress with innovative products and make summer in the garden exceptional. Well done again Mr Weber. I can only advise anyone who has a Weber to get a pizza stone and go for it, you won't be disappointed.

I could have smoked it slightly but I didn't on this occasion but I will try it next time and that won't be too far away I can assure you!
