Well, here we are again. Autumn. The apple trees in the garden hang heavy with their crop. Particularly the large one which stands in the middle of the lawn which has an amazing crop and could bear no more apples without breaking. The lower boughs are on
the floor as it is!!  So, how can two people eat all those apples? I used to watch with a heavy heart as the apples fell and the vast majority went to waste each year even with 4 kids in the house. But no longer. With the purchase of an Apple scratter (pulper)
and an 8 ton press, I am now able to use the vast majority of apples each year by turning them into juice. Put either in bottles or the 1 lt 'zip' type stoage bags, it goes into the freezer and supplies fresh Apple juice through the year. The neighbours gather
either to be given juice or to have their crop dealt with. It's a busy time of year but so, so satisfying to see food being used and not wasted. I may try cider this year as I will have gallons and gallons of juice. I can recommend this method as a way of
using your apple crop. .... and delicious isn't the word!
