Premature door hinge wear.
I am on my second VW Touran. The first one left me at 4 years old in early 2009, and is still owned by a family member. No problems with this car.
My 2009 Touran, now just over 4 years old and with only 28,500 miles (genuine) on the clock, my driver's door bottom hinge is worn. I challenged VW Customer Services over this. Their reply was that this door gets most use, and wear can occur. Personally,
I believe that the trouble stems from probable inadequate greasing on assembly and/or possible failure to properly lubricate at annual servicing.
This doesn't seem to be a general problem with the Touran, no explanation is given as to how it could have worn - apart from it 'can' and the more frequent use of the driver's door. But they cannot accept that the fault could be an assembly/maintenance
one. Car is now out of warranty, of course, and the cost of fitting a new hinge is £231.00 - not cheap! Am i unreasonable in expecting some 'good will' cost reduction?
