Define a Honeypot Site and Name Some
Given the anticipated and subsequent booking frenzy, define a "honey pot" site and educate as to which should be classed as so in the club book.

Certainly weekends tend to fill up first at these sites .

Castleton is falling into the collection of Honeypot sites, especially in the weeks prior to Christmas. Cambridge Cherry Hinton and Crystal Palace are another couple that are difficult to book at weekends.

Lots of places have specific dates where it can be difficult to booK, usually during or close to specific events. Others are booked solid at weekends, but quiet in the week. Sites close to town centres, such as York, Bristol are popular because folks can
just stroll into centre without worrying about parking up, either car or MH.0 -
I find it strange that people would book up mutiple weekends at either Rowntree Park or Baltic Wharf. I can understand two or three visits to 'do the sights' but why would you go to the same city centre for all your breaks?

I find it strange that folk can book many more than that. There was one member who had an offspring at Uni there I think and tried to book a few times a year. No idea if they were all at weekend though.
I have spent a day in York on 6 occasions in the last 12 to 14 years. More than enough. I would have no interest at staying at the Rowntree site in any event. I usually stay somewhere for 5 nights and move on. One day in York is ample for me at any one time
and so would prefer the site outside and use the P&R for one day0 -
Chatsworth we've been to once, can't think that we would need to go back there, once you've done the house and gardens why do folk keep going back, what is the attraction. York we have been to a few times, not Rowntree however we prefer the space of Beechwood,
we use the site to vist more than York itself though. Bristol Wharf we have booked for January, just to see what all the fuss is
booked it a week or so ago didn't have any problems getting a booking, there appeared to be plenty of dates available. Funny enough its the sites in Yorkshire that we have problems getting and that's going to be even harder next season with the amount of sites closed for refurbishment.

Our first site next year was to be Wharfdale, OK closed, so then Knaresborough - closed. We have booked a commercial site near harrogate instead for the first 5 nights of our tour in Apil / May

I find it strange that people would book up mutiple weekends at either Rowntree Park or Baltic Wharf. I can understand two or three visits to 'do the sights' but why would you go to the same city centre for all your breaks?
Perhaps like us we have a poorly relative that we want to see as often as possible and the BW site is in the city where they reside which gives us more time with them.

Can I suggest that an alternative to the sites closed in Yorkshire for the first half of next year is the former CC site at the Harrogate showground which is now open as a private site. Still very much the same as it was with some additional hard standings
and a partial refurbished toilet block. We have stayed twice and found it very convenient for visiting Harrogate and the area.0 -

Just had a look at their web site and that is the same site. If you haven't stayed there before it is next to showground with shop and restaurant adjacent and sainsburys on corner of main road and approach road. Buses to Harrogate in front of sainsburys

It's going off topic but it is interesting to see that their prices have increased more than 5% for a couple and unit from this year to next year.....

I can't comment on Bristol, as I don't know the city, but you could very easily spend 52 weekends in York and discover something new each visit. Dozens of churches, museums, walks, shopping centres, racecourse, river cruises, wall walks, railway hub for
getting out to other places like Scarborough, Durham etc... Castle Howard is 20 minutes away, good restaurants in city centre. Football team is for dedicated fans only, but lots of other sports available. City is fairly flat as well, so decent cycling. Packed
events calendar, and then there is the time honoured pastime of watching the city flood on a regular basis, timing it nicely to get your outfit out of Rowntree Park if you can!

After the intital rush yesterday there is quite a bit of space left at Baltic Wharf so although a lot of weekends have gone it's possible to get a few days there.

Having looked again today, the majority of dates here are fully booked, yes there are a few dates midweek which appear free but as most people work midweek they can only book weekends and bank holidays/festive periods. I fail to see how the majority of the year can be booked up here within two hours of going live unless certain people block book. And yes there are some who regularly go back to the same sites most weekends as it's convenient for them and close to amenities they want or enjoy. They are not big sites so the choice is very limited. Absolutely no chance.

The club cannot win........
Rowntree Park is very obviously being sold too cheaply at weekends if it is sold out already. Any other commercial organisation would simply adjust prices until supply & demand roughly evens out.......
But, they sell it off cheap and then everybody who cant get on moans......

I fail to see how the majority of the year can be booked up here within two hours of going live unless certain people block book.Very easy to understand. Take a look at Southport, a fairly large site. When the air show os on that too fills up and obviously nothing to do with block booking.
Their appear to be a large number of folk wishing to have a slice of the Rowntree Cake. It is no wonder that it goes so fast with so many wanting a slice. If members could only book a single weekend there it would go equally as fast - one only has to consider
the number that are likely dissapointed.0 -

I've just checked again, scrolled down to hardstandings with or without awnings and I think there is quite a bit of space available. This might show the spaces. The grass pitches aren't even in existence so you need to scroll down further each time.
