We stayed for three weeks at the CC site, Kinlochewe about four years ago, I'm really not surprised it closes early. At the height of summer when we were there it was virtually empty during our entire stay.

Write your comments here...What I was trying to say in my earlier post was that given occupancy levels were so low in the summer, it is almost certain that it would not be viable to open in winter.
Midges, what midges!! During our four month tour of Scotland staying at Moffat, Killin, Newtonmore, Dunnet Bay, Altnahara, Durness, Kinlochewe and Morvich, we had one day when the wee beasties were a problem at Altnahara

We are members of the CC . We have to accept that the CC have researched the viability of keeping sites open All Year, or closing them at a certain date.  As I said earlier, I accept and support their decision on this subject.---------- After
all, there are many alternative sites which do not close during the winter months, both CC and Non CC sites, CL's and CS's

No reason why caravanners cannot use them.

Absolutley K, the CC are not the be all of campsites. Plenty stay open all year. As I posted earlier most of the CC sites stay open until 7th Nov. a number stay open until after the New Year and then you have open all year sites. I think we are well catered
for with only about 8 - 10 weeks when the majority are closed.
