Best route to Isle of Skye from Carlisle area

We're off to a site near the Isle of Skye next weekend, looking at the route planner it gives 2 routes from the Motorways

1 x via the A82 from Glasgow and 

1 x via the A9 , A 889, A86 and A82

Has anyone travelled these routes? which is the best with a caravan, the difference in milage is something and nothing.
