Car + Caravan = train weight (2175+1325) = 3500
After a short break from camping the lure of the outdoors has grabbed me again. This time I’ve decided to invest in a fairly decent touring caravan. So as a first step I thought I would sign up here. Hello!
Outfit matching on CC website has my intended combination down as illegal. They are showing the mass in service and train weight of the towing car incorrectly. (1540 and 3460)
I feel the car should be able to cope with the caravan (although I have my doubts about the duel mass flywheel, only time will tell!) as for me, in my 36 years of driving, 2 have been HGV3, 8 have been HGV1 and the last 3 towing a 650KG un-braked camping trailer so I feel I should cope!
So are the figures from the VIN and V5 the definitive weights to go by?
1) First and foremost I want to be legal
2) Have I got my figures correct?
3) I don’t want to spend £9000 if this is not the caravan I can tow!
Any help much appreciated from you seasoned veterans
Kind regards
H
