Second car charge

Just got back from our weekend away with our motorhome. Daughter and family came too and arrived in their own car. Why is it that motorhomer's have to pay extra for a car. Surely we are no different to a car with a caravan? Have others been charged extra
when arriving with a car on tow with their motorhome?
