Maintenance charger or standard charger for winter

We've been caravanning for about 20 years, and each winter we've taken the battery into the house and put it on a maintenance charger. This has always worked well. Now we're having electricity connected to the caravan's garage, and I'm wondering whether
it might be better in every respect from now on to just keep the caravan connected to the mains throughout the winter via the plugs and leads that one uses on a site. At the very least it would save us the hassle of disconnecting the battery and carrying it
all the way to the house and up two flights of stairs! Any advice gratefully received.
