So I have been a caravanner for just over a week, and there is one topic that is driving me mad!

We have purchashed with our van a new Dormera Daytona Awning, please can someone tell me what do I put on the floor inside???  Breathable is a must I`m aware, but what about rain? condensation? wee beasties? I`ve heard that many conflicting suggestions,
I just may lay used euro pallets inside!! Yell

You can purchase a breathable mat by the metre to fit comfortably inside your awning. It is advisable to store it in a pastic/polythene bag after use. If pitched on grass it is advisable to lift the flooring a couple of time a week so let the grass breathe.
There should be little or no condensation in your awning. I would suggest taking it down dry if at all possible, unless you've plenty of room to dry it off at home.

As prvious post says breathable carpet can be purchased in various colour all cut to size. I have just used mine for two weeks on grass and didn't lift once. However, I did find underside very muddy and powerwashe when I got home. I also have a plastic sheet
that fits under the carpet when not on grass. I must say I do get condensation in my awning but ventalating daytime soon gets rid of it.

We use the click together soft 'Holey' mats available from various manufacturers. Warm on the feet and allow the ground below to breath.

Thanks guys for the info, my concern is that our daughter and grandaughter think it will be "fun" to sleep in the awning, any ideas? would an "inner tent" be to any advantage?

See if you can get a sleeping annex for your awning.  This woiud allow her some privacy and,  yes, sure she will find it fun sleeping in the awning

We just put a groundsheet down! I know it's not breathable but it works! Then put some tiles on top.

Never had an issue with a site yet - in my mind it's no differnt to having a big tunnel tents which all have fixed ground sheets. Of course sure the CC wouldn't be too pleased for a long stay on club sites! But usually only there a couple of days.

Our kids like to sleep in awning - we have a couple of end bedrooms now but in the past we have used a cheap pop-up tent to provide a bit of shelter/warmth/privacy in awning

I thought about an annexe, but after spending a small fortune on everything else, if she wants to sleep in the awning she can use my fishing bivi for time being!

It was the condensation I am more concerned about to be honest

Further to my previous post, if it is condensation you are concerned about the answer is to ventilate                   .      More condensation = more ventalation.

If you use a non breathable groundsheet on a grass pitch then it is vital you lift it regularly. If you are a member of C&CC you will see the damage tents do to pitches.

Personally I would not allow groundsheets on grass pitches.

Same for me. Groundsheet followed by inter locking foam tiles. Makes a wonderfully soft warm floor!

Ive seen how the grass turns yellow with a tent on it for a few weeks. Then how it remarkably recovers within a week or so.

Friends own a C&CC CL and just ask people not to put tent on exact same spot someone has just vacated

I simply dont understand how people can be so uncaring about the grass pitches that they are using.  To leave an unsightly mess like some do, gives no consideration to the next members welfare

So called breathable carpets don't seem to work anyway and I agree with Wildwood that no carpet at all is best on grass.
