TV reception in Compass Rallye

Hi, we have just treated ourselves to a Compass Ralle 530, irt has a "stick" arial,  while we was on the steam rally at Malvern we were unable to get any tv signal, it picked up no channels at all, just wondering if any one else has had the same problem
and how did they rectify it,
