Hi we are off to Kendall mid week, with a caravan and will need to stop off some where around Charnock Richard services, does any one know if this is a good stop or should we try Lancaster Services or maybe some  where else

Don't know where you are travelling from Eileen but we're heading north next week too and after the Birmingham area we usually go to Stafford services where there is a reasonably spacious caravan area (unfortunately last time we found lorries there too.)
The two services you mentioned are ok, things should be a easier in most places now the main holidays are over.

charnock Richard better than Lancaster Imo, ample parking for vans close to amenities

    Agree

Charnock Richard is ok, Lancaster (aka Forton Services) is a dump.

By the time you are at Lancaster, you are virtually at Kendal anyway.

Hi, we are now settled in at Kendal Club site, in the rain, but did stop off at Richard Charnock on way up, there was two caravans in the parking spaces, plus two pick up trucks with trailers and a 4x4 who obviously could'nt read the signs, thanks for all
    your advice. Eileen

I noticed that but it only seems to deal with cars and HGV's. An email re the specific site might be required.

With respect, are you considering staying overnight in a motorhome at a motorway service station?

I would have thought, depending where you are travelling, that a  CL reasonably close to  a motorway junction would be a much more pleasant location. It may even be cheaper!
