Lack of spare wheel
Recently changed my van to a slightly lighter Coachman at 1650kgs. So Im thinking later in the year I will change my tow car from disco 3 which i have owned for the 9 years, but still need something fairly substantial with that weight.
However,I have been visiting showrooms and a number of cars on my short list dont come with a spare wheel, some dont even have a space saver, just a tin of gloop and a compressor.
At the moment one of my favourites the VW Touareg has recently even Deleted User the option of a space saver. Two dealers I have visited are not clear whether you can fit one or not or even if you should use it whilst towing. Naive of me to think a dealer would
know.
I have had only one puncture in 9 years with the disco so am I being overly cautious or will sods law come into play? Im often in France/Europe. I think Greenflag/Red Pennant charge an excess if you dont have a spare.
Anyone using a VW Touareg and feeling comfortable with no spare? what do others think? Looks like it will be another Disco or possibly a Santa Fe. Would welcome any comments/suggestions.
