Advice wanted for an epic European adventure...

Hello all,

My wife and I live in the Canary Islands, but are returning to the UK in spring 2015. Obviously, living out here (we also have a one-year-old) we've built up quite the collection of belonging. But, rather than shipping everything back in a container, or
driving a van to and fro, we'd like to turn it into an adventure.

We're thinking of buying either a motor home or a caravan in the UK, driving down to the Canaries, loading up all our stuff, and then driving back to the UK (the long way round, of course).

We've never done anything like this before, so we're looking for some advice. Such as...

1) Motor home, or caravan?

2) If a caravan, what's the best towing vehicle (with two adults and a toddler)?
