I bought the Nextbase 402g professional car camera at the weekend, with a 8 gb card it cost £149.99.

I tried the cheaper options but found them to be not that good, especially as a stand alone unit.

The 402g is a superb bit of kit, excellent screen that allows you to view the action without the need for a computer.

The software that comes with it however is an absolute pain to install, you need to visit nextbase web site and download the codec pack. all well and good but what it doesn't say is you have to open the advanced options and click the .MOV file.

Once I sorted this the software works well, giving a map trace on google maps as well as a G sensor to show any impact at a time point.

Would I recommend it, yes, I feel driving today requires this type of protection, it not only will show in the image any frontal impacts, but also your lane position via the road white lines, so in a case of side impact you can prove that you did not wander across the lanes.

Nice feel to it and very reassuring when driving along.
