Bikes - how do you take yours...?

Hi all,

We're complete newbies, so apologies in advance and be prepared for many,
many idiot posts to pop up...sorry...

A simple question - as a family we effectively need to carry 4 adult bikes with us.

I already have a bike carrier which plugs into a mounting BEHIND the towbar, but do any of you with big vehicles do this and tow as well? I'm using a Toyota Hilux 4x4 which'll happily pull the moon out of it's orbit and the towbar set-up
bolted to the chassis has a noseweight limit of 180kg?

I see plenty of cars with them on the roof, but the Hilux sits so tall it's a problem getting them on and off roof bars. Do people put them inside the 'van?

Just wondering...
