Citroen c4 Grand Picasso Manual or Auto?

Thinking of changing our car (currently have an 04 xsara picasso) and we are looking at a C4 Grand Picasso 2.0Hdi but can't decide whether a manual or auto. We have never really driven an auto before and were wondering about their reliability when towing.
Any suggestions?
