Tour de France in Yorkshire
I wonder how many readers have looked at the item in the latest CC magazine about sites in Yorkshire for the TdF next year. I find it interesting that the sites are either owned by wealthy landowners and thus expensive or realistically too far away from
the action. Harrogate is quite an important location (gets two visits) but the fact that the Yorkshire Agricultural Society is reopening the former CC site on the showground (71 pitches) is completely missing.
The item could have been completely omitted and members simply refered to the 'Welcome to Yorkshire' web site that has all you need to know. It was also overlooked that many planning restrictions have been relaxed so there will be lots of opportunities rather
than the small handful described.
As a point of interest there will only be two Yellow Jerseys awarded in the UK, in Harrogate and Sheffield. The ride from Cambridge to London is purely for show and not actually part of the race.
