hi all

I have just bought a secondhand v70, its about 6 years old.

Normally when wiring up the towing electrics for the caravan lights I use a 7 way relay and a fused wire that goes directly to the battery.

I have done this with newer cars that have both canbus electrics and stability control such as my older volvo and a couple of passats.

I fully appreciate the benefits of driver aids such as traction control and stability control, however is it worth paying the £240 to volvo to buy their vehicle specific wiring kit and then have it programmed into the car.

I would describe myself as a cautious caravaner, and know the limitations of a caravan and car combination.

My caravan has the bpw chassis with the winterhoff stabiliser.

I would consider buying a stability control system that is fitted to the caravan.
