Stonehaven to Braemar

Just planning our May trip to Scotland. We are going to use Balbirnie Park, Stonehaven, Braemar and The Woods near Stirling as our bases over a two week period. Any advice please on the best way to connect from Stonehaven onto the A93 to Braemar and the
suitability of the route for towing.
