Wind deflector for car / caravan

Can anyone with first hand knowledge tell me if a wind deflector will stop slight chugging and give higher MPG together with increased stability. I have a BMW 520d 2 litre diesel estate and a 2012 Baily Rimini 1500 kilo max weight on the road.
