Buying a used motorhome or renting for 3 months

WE are planning to do a 3 month tour of Irealand and Scotland> at present we have a car and caravan Toured 4 years ago in Motor home and feel this is the best way to do this trip. Now our  delemma is would it be better and cheaper to buy rather than hire.
I see for sale Bessacarrs are very cheap for what is on offer is ther something we do not know. Always believed that to good to be true is.
