This is a subject that has cropped up more times than I have had beers.

My daughter & family have been trying to book a weeks holiday on the CC New Forest Club  site 5 nights were fine but the weekend was fully booked, after trying for 2 weeks they gave up & booked a c&cc site up the road from the cc site.

Lo & behold on checking last night I found that the cc site had received cancellations( forecast not good ) & now have vacancies for this weekend.Meaning that the cc has lost around £200.They had to pay a deposit with the c&cc not a problem.

When are the cc management going to face up to the fact that a lot of people book nearly every weekend throughout the year & then cancel if the weather forecast does,nt suit them or something better turns up.I would like to suggest that with all bookings
the first 2 nights must be paid as a none returnable deposit (except in exceptional circumstances ) that way virtually all bookings received will be genuine.

We have the same problem when we are trying to book 2 or3 week holidays with the club monday to friday ,no problem, weekends fully booked.meaning that we are having to use private sites more & more at a substantial loss to the club 3 wks = £500 +

We are seeing 5 nights free fri & sat booked all the time now.The 72hr rule does,nt change a thing it still gives the culprits plenty of time to cancel but not enough time for families to organise their holidays.

Taking 2 nights fees up front would sort this problem out immediately.
