Witnessed a sad accident

I am feeling very sad now.

I have just witnessed the aftermath of a dog hit by a car it obviously had got away from its owner as it still had lead on, the young lady owner looked distraught as she held the poor thing. I hope it is ok but it didn't look good. It was a cocker same colour similar age to my girl which made it even sadder. Never again will I walk the hundred yards up our lane    to my field with her off lead  .

this happened in a busy village not my lane which is by the way an unadopted road serving five properties
