The views are good from most parts of the site...the beach is quite expansive when the tide is out, lots of room for a good dog walks. The front pitches are nearly on the beach. Direct walks away from the site are a bit more limited. I'd recommend the Garlieston
site for better direct walks, lovely woodlands and shoreline to explore there.0 -
We had an excellent summer holiday there in 2002. An excellent site for a family, it is right on the beach, there is a row of pitches fairly close to it, there is a good play area and a small games room. The other pitches are in groups (look on the site
plan) with tress and bushes inbetween. However there are only a few hanrdstandings and we were lucky that it was quite a dry summer so the grass was dry and hard. It's location is a bit 'remote' as in the only way is manily north but there was lots to do off
site for our youngish family ( 6 - 10 years old) If the weather is good then its a great place to be with children.0 -
spk, I have a few from a couple of years ago. they're on my ipad-can't post em on here, if you want them(scenery from site & around) I'll send them to you. My email is on my profile. I loved it, excellent site & stunning scenery. Superb access to a great
beach too. I was out at 5am every day on the beach0 -
The best views are on the second row back on the site plan which is on top of a low cliff as the front ones are at near site level and there are dunes blocking out the view. The rest are further up a hillside and many have good views out to sea.
The site is on the sheltered side of the hill so weather less of a problem but you are looking accross a bay rather than out to sea.

Nice site, went a few years ago. Pitched on 151 and were amazed at the lengths people go to to knock a few feet off of their trip to the toilet block. One chap was scrabbling around at the back of our van rather than walk in front of the pitch! At least
we hoped that was all he was doing!0 -
I hate folk cutting across pitches it really really annoys me.
anyway all sounds quite good so far but I really need info on off lead dog areas direct from site, my cocker is a working dog and I need to keep her training going plus she needs to let off steam so a wood o open field would be ideal. Otherwise may consider
garlieston but we have done that before.0 -
Straight onto beach. No fence or gates. Beach goes for miles.

Try www.mull-of-galloway.co.uk for attractions and activities...I had a relative who did voluntary work in Drummore for the tourist board and there is Rhinns of Galloway walking information on there.
