There is a very nice CL at Hudswell just outside Richmond spk, we exited through Catterick Camp area. Will look up details and post here. Has two areas, one with HS, decent dog walking straight from site.

Just recalled it. Scar Close, Hudswell. I have left a couple of reviews I think, as we have used it more than once. You do need to follow directions in very carefully, but a very nice CL.

Leyburn (Lower Wensleydale) (managed) CC site is fairly close but does not open until the 18th of March. A very nice site and fairly quiet most of the time, as it has a lot of seasonal pitches. Toilet block a bit dated but kept very clean as is normal on CC sites. Watch out for the ducks though, you can get trampled in the rush if you feed them

CL I mentioned is adjacent to NT woodland. Leyburn site is very nice, but we found the dog walking close by not very good, just a lane, not that quiet either. However, if you put dogs in car, there is a very good walk from Leyburn town centre up along ridge
out of town. Someone else may know of an easier walk for dogs from Leyburn site, though, but we didn't find one.

If it is a Club Site you fancy, Teesdale Barnard Castle isn't that far from Scotch Corner, and has a superb on site dog walk. A huge seperate enclosed field, with paths mown through the meadow grass. Again, we left a review. We only had the one night, (with
a free Site night voucher, not what we usually pay,) but dog walk on site was very good.Happy

Depends when you are going but the clubs site at Richmond, Hargill House might suit you if you are going after it reopens.

Barnard Castle is a fair way away but Durham also possible as is Whitewater Park again when it reopens.

spk, there's a basic CL at North Cowton between Catterick & Darlington, Spring Thyme, No 1914 in Site Directory. All Hardstanding pitches but no toilet. Bargain at £10 pn! There is a footpath about 100 yds from the site's entrance, and the lane itself is
    quiet.

...We've stayed there too.   There is also an excellent pub serving good food only a couple of hundred yards away.

Try ringing as we have seen dogs on the site.

It is a working farm but weve seen dogs around on the occassions weve visited.

If you look on their web site there is an emphasised statement that they cannot take dogs!!Sorry as a working farm with livestock we cannot accept dogs on our CL site.  In the site
directory it indicates no dogs but on the club's web site that is not indicated!!Undecided

I suppose Nellie the 4 legged 'beings' we have seen being walked on leads may well have been 'sheep' or small cows.

Or possibly there were dogs who did ring the CL and were given permission.

Not all web sites are kept upto date with other more important matters needing attention.

More likely to be the farm's own dogs? Very rare to find a farm without a dog of some sort, even if they don't welcome visitors dogs. A lot of CL's don't update their information from year to year though. Not uncommon to find prices on website pages are years out of date.Happy

edit: definitely no dogs! Just checked website. Looks a nice place, good location.

My thoughts, too, but not a lot of use to either you or us, unfortunately.Sad
