on Friday were enroute to Northumberland for ten days. Travelling up M6 to Carlisle then across the A69. I would like to stop somewhere for an hour max mud afternoon to give me a break and let the dog have a run, so any recommendation for suitable parking
spot and park area or similar Brampton or haltwhistle ish would be most welcome. Obviously we will have caravan with us

There is a la4ge lay by set back from the road with picnic tables and toilets not long after you leave the M6. Not sure of its exact location but if I can work it out will let you know.

We have been having a look as well spk, not found anything yet sadly. Thought we had found something up just past Roman Army Museum, near Greenhead off the B6318, but OH thinks gradients might be too extreme, with caravan. Would have been a good spot to
walk dog, picnic area as well. Brampton and Haltwhistle are quite narrow with van as well.

This sounds ideal, which junction is it off as I think you can use one of two to get onto a69. I cant recall this layby but if you could find exact location that would be most helpful

    many thanks

We remember seing a large lay by similar to the one Wildwood described.  Have a feeling it was just before you get to the Brampton by pass?

OH says that ir was part of the 'old' road before they straightened it.  He seems certain that it is just before Brampton.  He says there is a picnic area and toilets.

From A69 at the East end of the Brampton By-pass turn left onto A6071 (Brampton) within a few hundred yard (immediately after 1st Right turn) on the right is a large Layby, usually quiet and separated from the road. No facilities.  O/S Grid Ref NY 545 615 approx.

yes this it . It is an area with lots of trees and is the old road , it is sign posted so just take it easy around there and you should see it.

Hi spk,  found it!  It's just about a mile past Warwick Bridge on the left hand side.

If you go to Google maps, Warwick Bridge .... look out for Mama's Cakes Cumbria ... the entrance is there.

Hope you find it and have a great time in Northumberland.  We are off next week ..... 3 weeks in the van, can't wait Happy
