Dealer 'Discount' and on-line pricing

Just been to the show in Manchester (on Saturday) and was intererested in a new Coachman Pastiche Platinum 545. Show price £22,190 and so we asked for a PX price on our 'van. The usual process followed where the nice salesman looked in the secret book and made a offer, thereby resulting in a 'price to change'. Seemed fair enough - still a fair chunk of cash though. When we got home we checked the dealer website to find that the same 'van was £1000 less and offered as a 'web price'. Phoned the dealer to check a few details about the show van, first off the chap I spoke to sounded surprised that such an offer had been made and made me feel as though he was doing me a favour and that the offer should have been lower. Then on querying the web price I was told that that price was only put there to make the vans look cheaper and that the price to change would still be the same. Now surely that is mileading is it not? So the price in the magic book means absolutely nothing. Does anybody else feel that this is a really misleading practice? I was interested in the 'van and the dealership and am not quite so keen now. Also, when I first called the dealership I was asked what price range I was interested in - why? Are my pounds not as good as the next potential customers? Not happy!
