Is it just me or has the "Edit" option disappeared? Useful for correcting mistakes, but I don't have it on any of my posts

It's appeared when I posted this, but not on any of my replies to other posts

SilverV, it would appear that "the powers that be" have reduced the time you have to edit a posting. I can see that one I did 25mins ago has lost it edit function, when, I'm sure, it used to be a lot longer than that.

I thought you had less than 10 minutes to edit on this forum. It's not long at all.

The edit timeout is 10 minutes now.  If you take too long composing a reply you can also get logged out and it seems as if you have lost what you have just spent ages typing in .... but judicious use of the 'back' function usually recovers your efforts, at least on a PC!

Alternativly if on a pc you can type onto Word then paste it onto reply.

That way if you keep clicking on the CC site it stays live.Smile

Sometimes on the Pad I select and copy before hitting Reply. That way, if the worst happens, it's only necessary to reopen the box and paste the reply in.

Or post on the C&CC forum.  You can edit and/or delete for ever, and you stay logged in for 24hours

Although, as a moderator I get options to edit all posts, the edit facility is still showing up on my system, so I can't identify a problem here.

Not likely, Vic! I know a far better one than that which also allows ongoing editing and deleting. What's more, it allows easy posting of pictures and doesn't insist I use my real name.

Only unscrupulous people would edit later to suit the ongoing debate, David. Hmm, maybe it's a good thing edit is time limited on CT.Laughing

I think that about 10 minutes is about right to edit ,it makes up you focus on what you post , if after 10 mins you think that you post doesn't read correct you can always add another post explaining why you are changing the wording .
