Swift Challenger 570 water pump

We are away at a CL site just now and are having a problem with our water pump. 

Everytime we want to use the water, we have to switch the pump back on at the main control panel. When it does come on it sounds very noisy. 

When we got to the van this morning, we found that the battery was almost dead, could this be the cause of it? We are on hookup and the charger seems to be working.
