Looking for a new battery for the caravan. The SuperBatt sounds very good for the price. Has anyone had any probs with them?

    Also never heard of SuperBatt.

We bought a Banner Energy Bull which has a very good reputation and has performed well for us so far.

Bought from Tayna - see above.

I bought a 110 amp Superbatt battery in April 2015 and it has been very good. Through my own fault, when I forgot to charge it after using the mover it revived after being flat for around 6 weeks. Lesson learned and hope that the battery keeps going from strength
    to strength.

Can I ask how long you were running the mover for, because putting ours in storage requires a fair bit of manovering. The battery then runs the tracker / alarm for up to 6 weeks before requiring charging. If it was discharged after just using the mover,
I would not think it that super.

Check out the ncc verified battery scheme. Tested batteries are classified A, B, or C depending on the duty required. There are some well known makes such as Banner, Exide.

The critical thing is the number of life cycles which can vary between 75 and 1000. A massive difference. The linked table has a list of all the batteries verified in the scheme, complete with dimensions, weights, A-hr capacity and life cycles.

It's a 1500kg caravan that the mover takes it around 22+ metres over a lowered kerb and up a hill about 3 to 4 metres. The Sargent charger in the van is more than capable of maintaining the battery. The supplier of the Superbatt told me that it needed
at least a 10amp charger to recharge.

Ours has to cover 25 metres on mover in and out at home. On the CC site at Kendal on Bank holiday Monday 2014 pitches were scarce. We found one that was obviously impossible to reverse a caravan or motorhome into off the one way track. Didn't want to move
the caravan in nose irst. Being a clever clogs I reversed the van in on the mover by having the hithch pass between the rails of a 3 rail fence with the back brushing the grass on a bank as it turned in. I felt quite smug! 6 days later it was impossib;e to
get out te way I came in. It had to ne inch perfect. After 3 or 4 attempts I drove the car around the site to a vacant pitch abot 80m the wrong way down the track from the van. I got OH to stand on a corner to stop ant traffic whilst I reversed the caravan
80m down the track to the vacant pitch so that I could then hitch up. Srove 100 miles home and then had the 25 metre shuffle here. (Do you ever wish you had another gear or two on a mover)

Whatever battery you choose, make sure it can physically fit in the battery box.

We chose a 100amp battery instead of 110 as it gives us a bit more wriggle room with all the wires etc. In the box.

We have to use the mover for about 75 metres in all and it's not let us down yet.  I do make sure it's fully charged before as I don't think either our neighbours or the cows would be very pleased if we blocked the farm track where we have to drive down

Banners are very good. Probably the best battery around.

I believe that they were one of the first to be covered by the ncc scheme.

Had a look at the Hankook which is as long as I can fit in the box, but it is definately Deep Cycle and offers 250 life cycles which looks good. Their tyres are great, which doesn't necessarily say that their batteries are!!

Some batteries avoid saying that they are Deep Cycling and it makes me nervous. You can't trust everyone.

Anyway, no urgency yet so will keep digging.

Sandgroper, you could always check out lithium ion batteries. More expensive but hold more power at half the weight! You'd be the envy of the site! Sunstore.co.uk  01903213141

Hi Yes Deleted UserUser I checked the NCC list which made me look again at the 'popular' advertised batteries. Many avoid telling you that they are 'Deep Cycle' and that worries me. Some are sized not to fit into my box, so they are out. The listing is very interesting
and was helpful in educating me at least !!!

I have a Banner smart charger for a classic car and that is an excellent piece of kit for anyone who needs to keep their battery well.
