Hardstanding pitches and awnings
Last had a caravan 15 years ago when hardstanding pitches were unheard of. Then just pegged awnings into soft (sometimes hard and gravelly) earth. Presume you now peg through what appears to be a gravel bed and into something stronger below. Please advise
if I'm on the right track. Or give a more detailed description of hardstanding. Thx.

That's about right Rund. It is possible to drive pegs in to the hard standings. Make sure you get some quality rock pegs. I use a lump hammer to get them in and a claw hammer to get them out.

Some hard standings are so loose in their contruction that pegs are reluctant to hold in the gravel. Some hard standings are so tightly compacted that you'd need what ever your local tool hire has available to hammer/batter the pegs in.
