Cinercester Park

I have just been reading Andrew Ditton's article on the Cotswolds in the current issue, and, commenting on Cirencester Park, he says it is just a 15 minute walk through the park into Cirencester. I have stayed there many times and enjoyed that walk into
town, however, I seem to remember reading in the magazine some time ago that we were no longer allowed to go through the park into town. Has anyone stayed there recently who can confirm the present arrangement?
