    I remember him better as Baron Von Frankensteen, and the Waco Kid, very very funny, great comic timing! RIP Gene!

    I read somewhere that the part of the Waco Kid was offered to John Wayne first. I can't picture him doing the part though.

    His portrayal of Willie Wonka had the right balance of dark and light in the character.a true genius.

    Just heard this sad news.  RIP Gene Wilder - will be forever remembered as Willi Wonka.
