battery terminal fittings

Does any motorhomer or caravaner have any preference would terminal fittings ?         I have always used the snap on with the plastic red and blue caps , having recently had a solar panel I have removed my battery several times and find they fall apart
, i would be grateful for any  suggestions as putting them back together is a pain !
