frustrating locker lock

Hi All 

i have  arather frustrating battery locker lock thta seems to fall every time i try to remove the key, ive ordered a new lock and it has arrived but doesnt look anything like the one i need to replace.

Do i need to repalce or does anyone have any little tricks up their sleeve from past experiences that may help me solve the problem thus end my frustrations.
